Before my flight, I downloaded the WOWPASS app and signed up. When I arrived at the airport, I found the WOWPASS kiosk right away—it was easy to spot! I scanned my passport, inserted my dollars, and my WOWPASS card popped out. Done in about 2 minutes!

[App Registration and T-money Top-Up]

I opened the app and scanned the barcode on the back of my card. It registered automatically! I noticed the app has TWO pockets: 💳 Shopping Pocket — for stores and restaurants 🚌 Transport Pocket — for subway and bus (T-money) To move money into the transport pocket, I just held the card against my phone's NFC. So easy!

[Riding Buses — Important!]

When I got on the bus, I tapped my card on the reader near the door. And when I got off, I tapped again at the back door. This is important because Korean buses charge distance-based fares!

💡

Always tap BOTH when boarding AND when getting off the bus! Transfer to another bus or subway within 30 minutes for an automatic transfer discount.

💡

Move small amounts frequently to T-money just in case you lose the card!

On my last day, I used up my remaining T-money balance at a convenience store. Then I went to the WOWPASS kiosk at the airport and got my leftover shopping balance refunded in cash! The whole process was super smooth.
